Before & After of Old & New Caulking

Before & After of Old & New Caulking

If you have experienced water stains, mold problems, or lack of caulking in the seams and joints where windows, vents, arches, or something else that connects to the body of your watercraft, you could be experiencing water leak issues! Fortunately, we offer water leak protection in our services.

Proper caulking material and installation is crucial to protect any electronics, interior wiring, upholstery, and all areas where water is not supposed to be - it will cause damage.

In order to ensure the highest quality re-sealant protection, we use BoatLife and 3M products -

Here’s How Our Re-Sealing Process Goes:

  • We remove all of the old, current caulking

  • We solvent clean the joints where new caulking will be going

  • We install new BoatLife sealant products

  • You’re now protected from unwanted water leaks!

From BoatLife, a description about the product we use for re-sealing joints on your boat: “A unique combination of marine silicone and polyurethane, formulated especially for fiberglass. LifeSeal® offers a fast-curing, low odor, high adhesion, non-sagging, non-corrosive, non-yellowing formula. It provides a durable permanent watertight seal for joints subject to structural movement.”

The following video shows incorrect caulking material that was improperly installed by another company - we tore this incorrect caulking out and replaced it the correct way:

We removed the old caulking because of it's age and appearance. As we find out, it never fully cured anyways! Water was trapped behind it! After removing the old, uncured sealant, we were able to install new sealant. We use Boatlife for this sort of application, one of the best products on the market for marine applications.

We replaced the original rubber inserts in this stair tread from a Cobalt Boat. A couple of the pieces were missing. We took out the remaining rubber and replaced it with a 3M product.
